Forget the televised B©S Championship game on the telly Monday. We’ve seen enough of the inside of the Superdome in recent weeks. For our money the best use of TV time this time of year is keeping a weather eye on the Hawaiian Islands courtesy of Golf Channel.

While the pros make it look so easy on television, anyone who’s every attempted the game soon realizes that the great ones make it look easier than it really is. San Diego golf legends such as Phil Mickelson, Scott Simpson and Gene Littler have each spent tens of thousands of hours throughout their careers, practicing the varied shots the game demands for those who seek to play it at a high level.

That’s just one of the many reasons the average golfer strains to crack 100 and many give it up or play infrequently.

Which is where a Denver-based company known as GolfTEC joins the crowded house of books, teaching methods, professionals and yes, the self-taught, at book stores, ranges and country clubs around the country.

A charismatic left-hander claimed the prize at the 2011 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla on Sunday.

Not the local lefty favorite Phil Mickelson, but the one named Bubba, Bubba Watson. Watson answers fans’ questions via Twitter and posts candid videos on the Web being himself, which is to say wearing his heart on his sleeve.

PGATOUR.com – Deutsche Bank Championship Leaderboard.

The standings after round one. Pat Perez is -1, T48

Updated Saturday after round 2

Nice move by “cousin” Pat up the leaderboard in the second round, shooting -5, 65, to move up to a tie for 15th.

Updated Monday during final round

Pat moved in reverse on Sunday, shooting 75 to finish in tied for 43rd place. He rebounded on Labor Day, shooting 67 in the final round. Currently, that performance is good enough for a tie for 27th. In the all important FedEx Cup race, he’s tallied enough points to advance to the third round of the “playoffs,” the BMW Championship.
