An Imperial County education administrator has pleaded guilty to mail fraud charges in a San Diego federal court in connection with misuse of funds disbursed by the National Science Foundation.




Michael P. Klentschy, former superintendent of the El Centro Elementary School District, entered the guilty plea on Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nita L. Stormes, federal authorities said in a statement.

Deputies arrested a man in Spring Valley after he allegedly stabbed three people with a broken wine glass early Sunday.

The brother and sister of slain Carlsbad resident Kathleen Cary Scharbarth met with reporters Tuesday afternoon to publicly thank those involved in investigating her disappearance and remember a beloved family member.
